Physical Fitness Testing Information

  •  The California Education Code mandates physical education for all students in grades one through nine, plus one additional year in high school.
  •  Students who are physically unable to take all elements of the test are expected to take as many as their condition permits.
  •  This test only applies to students in Grades 5, 7, and 9.The estimated time for completing the test is 30 minutes, depending on the time needed for the 1 mile run/walk.

The following activities will be tested for the PFT: (please click the hyper-link for video demonstrations and explanations)

For the Curl-Up and the Push-up: A metronome set to 40 BPM can be found through a simple online search for "metronome" on most cell phones.  This will provide 1 beat every 1.5 seconds.  The test requires one curl-up and one push-up every 3 seconds.  This metronome setting will be sufficient for an up-down cadence.
